create the space
If you're having trouble getting started or staying consistent with your at home gua sha, lymphatic brush, facial massage or gemstone roller use, the simple action of creating a special space and set up for your tools or products in a convenient and accessible location may help you connect with implementing the work.
It's not always practical to have your tools sitting out on the vanity or on your nightstand, ready for any moment to use, because - clutter and clutter can be overstimulating to the mind.
Creating a special set up for yourself with your tools and your favorite products allows them to be ready for a practice that feels special and inviting.
Some days I feel like I don't have the time or energy to do any of it! If I am greeted with a set up similar to what is pictured, I feel more ease with initiating the work and find that I stay committed more regularly to a practice that makes me feel rejuvenated and renewed.
example:
Face Mask Friday
I forget about offering myself face masks at home, but always enjoy them! I like the way different face masks feel, their aromas, the act of applying a face mask and having it sit on my skin for 15 - 20 minutes helps me remember - hey, you are taking some time for youself!
For me it is about being present with myself, scanning my body and emotions - how do I feel? Are there any areas of my face or body that feel heavy, stagnant, puffy, or painful? The set up and
ritual facilitates a reconnection with self and I like a face mask because it is passive - sit back and relax, or put my legs up the wall, stretch, breathe, listen to music, lay on my infrared heating pad, roll out my feet, etc. It helps me jumpstart the process.
the set up

After I finish my Friday morning routine and getting ready for the day, I do a quick bathroom vanity clean up, I set up the mask, the products and tools I'll be using neatly. This set up took me less than 3 minutes. It's not groundbreaking, but everything is fresh, organized, welcoming and set out nicely for my practice when I get home.
When I finish with work for the day, I have the products and tools set up waiting for me to use. This practice of creating the space and organizing the products to welcome me home has helped me facilitate the work.
Why does it matter? It helps me feel better. I may not even be feeling bad, but taking the time to go through a process like this makes me feel better every time - more awake, vibrant, connected, less puffy, sometimes less brain fog. It all depends on the day and each time I go through a ritual I can have a different felt experience.
Create the space with your products and tools to help you connect with yourself and the renewal that comes from this practice.
